MP's Column

The fatal accident on the A30 last week was a personal tragedy for the bereaved and will be a trauma in many lives long after we have all moved on.

Bosence Farm

I visited Bosence Farm to catch up with the community there. For years now people with alcohol problems have been helped to beat their addictions and get their lives back on track.

Assisted Living For Independence

I visited the Assisted Living For Independence HQ to understand the role they have in supporting people to live independently.

I was particularly impressed with the technology they have to monitor someone's wellbeing remotely.

Penzance Business Improvement District

Today I visited the Coach House which provides supported housing to young people. It was good to meet some of the young people and hear their stories. I love the 'never give in' philosophy you so often find when meeting people.

MP's Column

The sudden death of our postmaster in St Buryan has shocked our close-knit community and I know that the sadness I feel is shared by the many others who knew John and were customers of his.

My Plan

Since 2005 I have been listening to the concerns and ideas of people who live in West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. That is why I am working to address the following four priorities:

Support and Care Workers

Recently, Penwith College Health and Social Care student, Stephanie Trembath, travelled to the Palace of Westminster to receive her award

The Hunting Act 2004

The Government has decided to bring forward a Statutory Instrument to make amendments to the exempt hunting provisions included in the Hunting Act 2004.

MP's Column

Years ago I took part in a Labour Government study measuring the contribution of the voluntary sector. I was reminded of this on Saturday when I must have met well over 200 volunteers. The day started at the Pirates Clubhouse for the West Cornwall League of Friends annual fete.
