Road Safety

DT by road

I recently held a ‘drop-in’ in the Lion and Lamb Pub and an issue that was raised was speeding through Breage and Ashton. As a resident, you will be aware that speeding has been a concern over many years, and I’ve supported measures to address it on a number of occasions in the past. However, it seems speeding has raised its ugly head again and I am writing to you to seek your support as follows:

20 is Plenty
Cornwall Council responded positively to our campaign for 20 mph in residential areas. Despite the noise in the media recently, this is still the intention of Cornwall Council to deliver on this commitment. My concern is that Cornwall Council have not planned to introduce 20 mph speed restrictions in Breage and Ashton until 2025. To my mind, this is not soon enough, and I’d like to press the Council to bring this forward, but I’d like to know from you what your opinion is.

Community Speedwatch
I’ve also supported Community Speedwatch initiatives. When deployed properly community speedwatch is an effective way of slowing traffic down to legal limits in residential areas. However, this relies on local people being willing to volunteer their time and expertise. Can you?

Road Safety Week
There are other things that can be done to make our roads safer and I’ve drafted this survey which will help me understand how you would like these road-related concerns addressed.
