West Cornwall MP Derek Thomas is appealing for volunteers to get involved in his Woodland Recovery 2020 project that aims to plant 20,000 trees in the area.
He hopes that individuals and organisation and groups will come forward to plant trees – either for one day a week, or just as a one-off during a period of a few weeks at the end of the year.
Mr Thomas said: “Trees play an incredible role in combating climate chaos by removing planet-wrecking emissions from the air around us - so we plan to plant 20,000 trees throughout West Cornwall.
“Already, with the help of local communities, schools and individual landowners, we have planted almost 5,000 trees and another 6,000 trees are arriving at the start of December.
“I’d like to give people the chance to come and get some fresh air, get their hands dirty and plant some trees which will do so much to help us achieve our net zero target. We will ensure that the planting sessions take place in groups of no more than six in a Covid-secure way as soon as lockdown rules permit!”
