West Cornwall MP Derek Thomas is hosting an event for local businesses which is designed to show how they can export goods and services successfully once the UK leaves the EU.
Open to any local business and sponsored by Atkins Ferrie Wealth Management LTD, the Cornish Export morning will take place at the Marazion Community Centre from 8:30am to 11:15am on Friday, 23rd February when, in addition to listening to guest speakers explaining how they have operated successful export ventures, there will also be the chance to network with other visitors.
The keynote speaker will be George Thomas, CEO of the Export Factory, a business that is helping companies post-Brexit find new customers in new markets without EU constraints.
The Export Factory is based in Cornwall but works globally and George will be speaking about working with large corporates as well as small start-ups.
Other guest speakers will also discuss their background and experience of exporting in Cornwall, the benefits it brings and the barriers their businesses have had to overcome.
Mr Thomas said: “I am holding this event because one of my key priorities as an MP is to ensure that local businesses are able to operate in an environment where they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to grow their businesses.
“In the wake of the UK’s decision to leave the EU, it is vitally important for Cornish businesses to be able to tap into export opportunities.
“It is also valuable for me to hear feedback from local businessmen and women about what they feel would help enable their business to thrive.”
