Mash Clothing wins Penzance Small Business of the Year Award 2014
Family-run business, Mash Clothing has been announced as the winner of the Penzance Small Business of the Year 2014. A brief presentation ceremony took place inside the ladies fashion store in Market Place last week with owner Wendy Darmanin, who said ”I’d like to thank all my customers for voting for me. The most important thing in my business is my staff – they know their stuff and they have won this award. During the good and difficult times we have looked at every possibility to make that extra effort. Our Facebook page has helped considerably attracting customers from across the country. I am thrilled to have won this award.”
The Penzance Small Business of the Year Award was organised by Derek Thomas, Prospective Conservative Member of Parliament. Launched at the start of the Easter break, the aim of the event was to encourage people to shop locally and support small businesses in Penzance. The competition closed on June 13th and votes cast by customers for their favourite business were counted and the result independently verified by Rev Bob Senior, former Penzance Minister.
Derek Thomas said, ”Congratulations to Wendy and her staff. The enthusiasm they show for their business is an inspiration. In a difficult retail climate Mash Clothing has continued to offer a quality product both on the high street and online. Like many other independent shops in Penzance, Mash Clothing provides the evidence that there is a great future for our town centre. The challenge remains as to how we market Penzance and continue to improve the experience for our high street shopper”
