MP's Column - Great Western Dog Walk 2017

The second annual Great Western Dog Walk in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care takes place on Saturday October 7th, starting at the Godolphin Arms in Marazion and making its way to the Jubilee Pool in Penzance. This year we are introducing a 'fun dog show' to kick off the event. Registration for the whole event is from 9am, the dog show begins at 10am and the Great Western Dog Walk at 11.45am. You can pre-register at or call my office to volunteer to help on the day. A dog is not essential although you will receive a free 'doggy goody bag' of treats and things once you complete the walk!

Everybody has the right to come and see their MP even if just to say hello. That is why I have booked space as follows at: 5.30pm The Duke of Leeds, Leedstown and 7.15pm The Star Inn, Crowlas on October 3rd. On the 4th at Kings Arms, Madron at 5.30pm and the Red Lion, Newlyn at 7.15pm. Helston Light and Life Centre on the Water-Ma-Trout Industrial Estate from 2pm and The Star Inn, St Erth at 5.30pm on Thursday 5th October. You can catch me once again in Helston (11am) on Saturday 14th October. Also on the 14th I will be in Coverack (1pm), St Keverne (3.30pm) and Mullion (5.15pm). For a more traditional surgery appointment call the office on 01736 363038 (these take place in Penzance, St Ives and Helston).

For good reason residents, customers and retailers have raised concerns regarding anti-social behaviour in Penzance. Various agencies including Cornwall Council Officers, the police, councillors and myself have been taking a close look at this and people should see a rapid improvement in the situation. However, it is important that we adequately respond to and address the root causes of this problem both for those concerned and because we are proud of our town and want people to feel safe and welcome. I want to reassure everyone that together, as your elected representatives here in Penzance, we are committed to working to resolve these challenges.
