MP's Column

Wednesday, 7 October, 2015

Today I took my 'drop-in surgery' to a Shared Lives coffee morning for carers held at Shekinah Church in Penzance so that I could take up any issues people raised.

I then took my regular stroll down through the town to visit shop keepers before spending an hour on Newlyn Harbour talking to the Harbour Master about the challenges and opportunities facing the fishing community in Newlyn.

Across to St Ives to discuss the Neighbourhood Plan and concerns regarding the Carninney Farm Development.

I then had a tour via the Royal Square shuttle service to understand further the difficulties surrounding congestion, parking and public transport in St Ives.

I finished my day with representatives of the holiday-let industry to get their advice to ensure that we strike a balance between supporting this important industry and providing the right mix of housing for local people.
