This morning I met with a couple of people from the dairy industry. The price paid to many farmers for their milk remains considerably less than the cost of production. Simply speaking, dairy farmers need 5p extra per pint of milk and 50p extra per kg of cheese. This would secure our dairy industry. We also need to insist on clear labelling so that we know that we are buying British dairy products.
