Today I met with councillors from Marazion Town Council and a representative from the Sf Aubyn Estate to discuss the Shoreline Management Plan. This plan is drawn up to ensure adequate care and resources are given to provide sea defences along key stretches of our coastline.
The problem is that for the section East of St Michael's Mount, the plan is to have no plan. In other words we will do nothing to defend ourselves from the sea. For good reason this is a bad plan and I will work with the council to correct this.
I have also spent much of the day at the EXPO Exhibition with Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin MP. We have been looking at the transport investment schemes largely in relation to Planes, Trains and Automobiles (road improvements particularly).
I was privileged to talk to Patrick about our Penzance and Newlyn Neighbourhood Plan which is the best piece of work in relation to the our economic future in West Cornwall so far.
