Brain Tumour Research ‘Wear a Hat Day’

For the third year running West Cornwall MP Derek Thomas is hoping as many people as possible will dig out their most colourful and outrageous hat on Friday to help fight the biggest cancer killer for people aged under 40.

The MP has asked dozens of local businesses to take part in ‘Wear A Hat Day’ on Friday, March 31st in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

“Despite being brain tumours taking such a horrendous toll of our young people, research into understanding and treating brain tumours receives less than one per cent of national cancer research spending in the UK,” said Mr Thomas.

“When I visited the Brain Tumour Research Centre at Plymouth University I learned how little is known about brain tumours yet for someone who is diagnosed with a tumour the effect is devastating.

“I hope that on Friday, West Cornwall folk will turn out in their droves to have a bit of hatty fun while demonstrating support for patients and their families and raising funds and awareness for a wonderful cause.”
